Creating an alumni + student online community

In order to better connect and meet the needs of UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design’s alumni and students, the college launched Wurster Life, an online alumni and student community. The site allows users to geolocate nearby alumni, search directories by interest and field of study, and share events, news, and discussion topics. I worked with the site developer, Graduway, to create a branded look and feel for the site. I developed warm and inclusive language and design elements to reflect the supportive academic community of the college.

The name WursterLife references the historic building in which the College of Environmental Design resides, Wurster Hall, and the fondness CED’s alumni feel both for the academic community and its built environment.
