Website Branding

I oversaw a complete overhaul and redesign of the Goodman Community Center website. Goodman is the largest community center in Madison and Dane County, Wisconsin.

To achieve a beautiful and functional website that worked for all our facility users, staff, community members and donors, I held focus groups with key stakeholders to ascertain desired features, applications and content.

I designed the layout of the pages and worked with Greenleaf Media, a Web development company, to achieve the results.

A Thoughtful Process

The Goodman Community Center is a full-service community center in the broadest sense. It houses a preschool, 4-year-old kindergarten, K-12 afterschool programs. a teen employment initiative, senior programing, a food pantry, seasonal cafe, fitness center, gym and splash pad. Additionally, Goodman rents rooms to businesses, organizations and individuals for meetings, weddings and other events.

Because the website had to serve the needs of a broad array of community members, I met with small and large focus groups and staff to organize and design a website to suit a variety of needs.

Online Donations

While our previous website accepted online donations, the interface was clunky and not mobile-friendly. We modeled this easy-to-use donation page after some of the more effective donation pages for political campaigns. Our goal was to keep the process short and simple, so that donors would not have to scroll down or click through pages.

Room Reservations

Goodman's room reservation page needed to provide users with an easy way to preview rooms, browse guidelines for room rentals, highlight Goodman's full-service catering company, and allow people to submit room requests.

I worked with our facility use staff and previous facility users to design a page that would emphasize our beautiful rooms and talented catering staff, while downplaying some of the less up-to-date features (such as Goodman's room reservation software).
